The program of events for the Congress will be as follows: both national and international research in various areas relating to the overall subject of plant pathology. These include: Population Genetics (attendees will be hearing from Celeste Linde); Resistance and Pathogenetics (by expert Brian Staskawicz); Molecular Plant Pathogen Interactions (with a lecture by Sophien Kamoun); Epidemiology (with field experts Forrest Nutter and Juan Gonzalo Morales); Diagnosis (with Orlando Cedeño Tamayo) and Biological Control (with Alba Marina Cotes).
Looking at these topics in more detail: Population Genetics will focus on a description and quantification of the genetic variation in populations, making inferences on evolutionary processes that modulate. In the subject of Resistance, the objective is to obtain an overview of current management strategies, including varietal resistance, management and classical biological control. In the Epidemiology lecture the goal is to look assessment scales; spatial analysis and develop a forecast of epidemics from environmental variables following the window pane methodology. In Biological Control, the positioning of plant pathology in Colombia for the use of genomic technologies and bioinformatics will be discussed. And in Diagnosis, a study of the implementation of networks of phytosanitary diagnostic laboratories under quality management systems will be researched.
